WooCommerce sells a PDF as a downloadable product: the buyer gets the file, and the file can go anywhere. Keep WooCommerce for the checkout and let HelpRange deliver a personal, watermarked copy – or skip the plugin and link a HelpRange Store product from any WordPress page.
Your readers pay for the PDF, not for a file to forward.
Protect and sell in one: every buyer reads a personal copy with their e-mail watermarked on each page and downloads blocked. Access ends after the days you set, when you revoke it, or on a refund or cancellation from Kajabi, Whop or Gumroad. From $39 a month per team.
Customers pay in your store as usual. HelpRange only delivers and protects the PDF.
HelpRange gives access only for orders with status processing or completed – pending payment, on-hold and failed orders are ignored; refunded and cancelled ones lose access.
Each paid order gives the buyer a personal link to the protected copy by e-mail; they confirm their address with a one-time code.
A second route sends refunded and cancelled orders to the same address and access is removed.
Every page shows the buyer's e-mail – or your own buyer ID – so a leaked page points back to the order.
Create the product in the HelpRange Store and put its link or button on any WordPress page: Stripe Checkout on your own Stripe account, delivery included.
| Method | Buyer gets | Can they forward it? | Leak traceable? | Take access back? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| WooCommerce downloadable product (default) | The PDF file, via a download link with optional limit and expiry | Yes – once downloaded, the file is theirs | No | No – the file is already delivered |
| WooCommerce + HelpRange (via Make, n8n or Zapier) | A personal link to a protected online reader | No file to pass on; the link asks for their e-mail code | Yes – e-mail or buyer ID on every page | Yes – on refund, cancellation, after N days or with one click |
| HelpRange Store buy link on a WordPress page | The same protected access, sold through Stripe Checkout | No | Yes | Yes; subscriptions end access when they end |
Upload the e-book, workbook or report to a HelpRange folder and open its Buyers tab to copy the folder's webhook address.
WooCommerce → Settings → Advanced → Webhooks → Add webhook, topic "Order updated", delivery URL = the folder's address. HelpRange gives access when an order becomes processing or completed, ignores pending payment, on-hold and failed orders, and removes access on refund or cancellation.
Place a test order and check the Buyers tab. Need rules such as "only these products"? Send the webhook to Make, n8n or Zapier instead, filter there, and POST {"email": billing email} to the folder address (with ?action=revoke to remove access).
Buyer access is part of Pro ($39 per team per month, unlimited buyers), Unlimited ($174) and the 3-day trial – no per-buyer or per-view fees. The HelpRange Store adds Stripe Checkout: 2% fee on Pro, 0% on Unlimited, plus Stripe's fee. Make, n8n and Zapier are separate services with their own plans. Plans & pricing
Yes. Mark a product "Virtual" and "Downloadable" and attach the PDF; WooCommerce e-mails a download link after payment. Orders with only virtual, downloadable products are completed automatically (WooCommerce documentation, read 7 November 2026).
It protects the download link, not the file: with "Force downloads" or X-Accel-Redirect/X-Sendfile the link needs the order, and you can limit downloads and set an expiry. Once a buyer has the file, they can forward it – there is no per-buyer watermark or revocation.
Yes. Add a webhook with topic "Order updated" and the folder's address as delivery URL. WooCommerce sends every order update; HelpRange ignores pending payment, on-hold, failed and draft orders, gives access when the status is processing or completed, and removes it when the order is refunded or cancelled. Make, n8n or Zapier are only needed if you want extra rules (for example only some products – or use ?only=<product ID>).
No. Use a webhook through Make, n8n or Zapier, the REST API (a developer can call "give a buyer access" from a WooCommerce hook), or the HelpRange Store link, which needs no plugin at all.
Create the product in the HelpRange Store (connect Stripe, choose the folder, set a price) and add its link as a button on your WordPress, Squarespace or Wix page. Buyers pay in Stripe Checkout and get access by e-mail.
No. WooCommerce takes the payment; HelpRange only delivers and protects the PDF.
Yes. Set "Access length" in the folder's Buyers tab, e.g. 21 days: every buyer's access ends that many days after their own purchase, independently of other buyers, and a repeat purchase starts a new period. It only closes the PDF in HelpRange – nothing changes in your shop, course or community.
Choose the "Maximum" protection level for the folder: buyers get watermarked page images instead of the PDF, so there is no text to copy, and a screenshot mask covers the page when they leave the window or press screenshot keys. No browser viewer can stop a photo of the screen – the buyer's e-mail or ID on every page makes such a copy traceable.
