Template for any round

Not a real company deck but the outline Sequoia Capital recommends to founders – the backbone of most decks you will see.

The slides

  1. Company purpose (one sentence)
  2. Problem
  3. Solution
  4. Why now
  5. Market potential
  6. Competition / alternatives
  7. Business model
  8. Team
  9. Financials
  10. Vision

What works

  • Forces a one-sentence purpose – the hardest and most useful slide.
  • “Why now” makes founders explain timing, which investors care about a lot.
  • Short enough to fit a first meeting.

What is missing

  • A template has no traction – you must add your own proof early.
  • No explicit slide for the ask and use of funds – add one.
  • Easy to fill in mechanically; the story still has to be yours.

Would it raise money in 2026?

Use it as the skeleton, put traction right after the solution if you have it, and finish with the ask.
